Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.
